Breakthrough 2025: A Day of Faith, Fun, and Fellowship

Breakthrough Event Highlights Video
Watch Highlight Video

Breakthrough 2025 was an unforgettable, Spirit-filled event that brought together teens and young adults for a full day of faith & friendship. The day-long event combined inspirational talks from two renowned speakers with games, fellowship and times for reflection. Joey Pontarelli, founder of Restored Ministries, spoke about human suffering, provided practical advice for difficult times and challenged attendees to "choose your hard." Samantha Kelley, founder of FIERCE Athlete, spoke about God's loving plan for men and women and encouraged attendees to embrace the incredible and unrepeatable person God intended for each of them to be.

Break Through Event SMFPI

Breakthrough 2025 was more than an event—it was a turning point. Teens left encouraged, strengthened in their faith, and ready to carry the powerful messages back to their schools, parishes, and homes. We are so grateful for every teen, leader, volunteer, and family who made this day possible. It is our hope to build upon this year's success with Breakthrough 2026.

 Board Member Highlight:  Andrew Cuddy

SMFPI Board Members

For this month’s Board Member Highlight, we are excited to feature

Andrew Cuddy, SMFPI Board Member

How do you like to spend your time when you're not working with SMFPI? Where do you work?

I am an attorney with a practice focused on representing parents of children with disabilities. I manage the Cuddy Law Firm in Auburn, NY.

How long have you been involved with SMFPI?

I started going to the Eucharistic Adoration at Sursum Corda about a year ago, and Deacon Mike asked me to join the board about six months ago.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

As Catholics, we’re called to grow both in numbers and in faith—through the gift of life and the formation offered by Catholic education. I believe Restore has the potential to contribute meaningfully to that long-term vision.

What inspired you to join the board of St. Michael’s Family Protection Institute?

After stepping down from another board due to a shift in values, I was honored when Deacon Mike invited me to join the SMFPI board. The opportunity to contribute to launching Restore, a mission so closely aligned with my own beliefs, came at exactly the right time

What are the biggest challenges facing families in Rochester, and how is SMFPI addressing them?

As society drifts from the foundational purpose of marriage—reflected in lower birth rates, rising divorce, and fertility struggles—I admire Restore’s commitment to Catholic-aligned care that prioritizes strong, healthy families and relationships.

We are grateful for Andrew's leadership, passion, and dedication to SMFPI. Stay tuned for more Board Member Highlights in upcoming newsletters!

Grow in Virtue This Lent with Chesterton

Image description

Lent is a time for spiritual renewal, and what better way to embark on this journey than by rediscovering virtue as an adventure? G.K. Chesterton reminds us that true virtue is not merely the avoidance of vice but a life filled with joy and purpose.

Join the Society of G.K. Chesterton this Lent as we explore a different virtue each week—reflecting on the Cardinal virtues (Temperance, Justice, Fortitude, and Prudence) and the Theological virtues (Faith, Hope, and Love). Through Chesterton’s wisdom, scripture, and traditional symbols, we will deepen our understanding of holiness in everyday life.
